Diplomacy: plum jobs for political appointees
August 2nd, 2012
Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully this week confirmed the report in Trans Tasman (July 19) Mike Moore’s term as Ambassador to the US will be extended for another 3 years. McCully says “there is no-one better placed to represent NZ in Washington as we get to the business end of the Trans-Pacific Partnership process.”
He also named Leon Grice as the next Consul-General in Los Angeles. Grice recently served as Director NZ2011 in the Ministry of Economic Development. McCully says Grice has experience in public relations and marketing and will be responsible for boosting NZ’s engagement with the technology and film sectors in California, as well as overseeing the leveraging of NZ’s participation in next year’s America’s Cup regatta in San Francisco.
